Sea Challenge

BT Global Challenge, the world's toughest yacht race, adventure of a lifetime - it has many names. The circumnavigation started on 10th September, 2000 and ended on July 1st, 2001.

BT Global Challenge

Jan's yacht in the race was the Isle of Man. Follow the  journal link to read more about life at 35 degrees. Read the missives sent from far out in the ocean, the overall race results and Jan's thoughts at race finish!

The BT Global Challenge 2000-2001 raised over £1,000,000 for Save the Children. While the race may be long finished,  the need to help remains. Find out more here about the official race charity, Save the Children.

Why 'Sea Challenge'? Firstly, because it was a challenge that took place at sea. Secondly, Jan wanted to acknowledge the contribution of the  S outh-East Asian region to her sailing adventures, notably the Royal Brunei Yacht Club. Thirdly, of 'challenge' itself - there were many challenges in this event, of which circumnavigating was only one.

Read on to decide if 'the world's toughest yacht race' is for you!
